121–Impermanence

i’m surprised at how much

i cling to things to impermanent

temporary blooms like the struggling

passion fruit vines in the front yard

planted only a few months ago straining

toward the birch tree looking for that

solid thing to climb i guess that’s it

i’m temporary too at least a big part

of what seems like me today i cling

to life though totally transient

to love though i have lost a bunch

already i cling and sing of spring

watching the small blooms already

reaching for the sun from the fresh

dirt and water homes we made

for them as if they too would live forever
